Vetropack was awarded the coveted ‘WorldStar Award’ for its Echovai bottle – world’s first returnable bottle made of tempered lightweight glass. Echovai was selected among the winners in the ‘Packaging Material & Components’ category.
The WorldStar Award Ceremony took place in Bangkok, Thailand during ProPak Asia exhibition, the region’s number one international trade event for food, drink and packaging technology.
The use of Echovai technology achieves a weight saving of around 30% for glass containers compared to standard glass bottles while also offering greater robustness and less scuffing. In Austria, 0.33 litre Echovai returnable bottles were introduced this year as an environmentally friendly standard solution for the local brewing industry.
Receiving this award reaffirms Vetropack’s commitment to sustainable glass packaging solutions. Ecovai is the result of years of R&D effort by the team at the Innovation Centre in Pöhlarn, Austria.
