Missfresh Ltd., a Chinese fresh food e-commerce and physical retail chain, has recently deployed vending machines at more than 5,000 business sites in Beijing such as offices, movie theaters, wedding studios and entertainment venues.
Interestingly, the retailer is able to replenish the machines multiple times a day, thanks to its network of warehouses across China.
Customers scan a QR code or use facial recognition to open the door of the machines, choose their preferred product(s) and then close the door to automatically complete payment.
In a related development, Missfresh has also partnered with Mondelez International to debut OREO’s new range of sugar-free sandwich cookies, Oreo Zero across China. The cookies will be available on Missfresh’s on-demand retail platform. MissFresh boasts of a mini-warehouse business model to serve customers online and off-line, with delivery, on average, in 39 minutes. MissFresh currently carries Oreo and Chips Ahoy cookies. The addition of Oreo Zero is part of an effort to offer healthier options.
