Two Malaysian entrepreneurs have received substantial investment injection from a Spanish food group, Dacsa for their innovative Cheeky P’s.
Cheeky P’s is a range of healthier snacks which are vegan, gluten-free and high in protein using roasted chickpeas. The product was conceptualised with the support of UK’s Newcastle University Start Up in 2018 in which the 2 Malaysians were students.
Just within 2 years, Cheeky P’s has already successfully secured deals with multiple national distributors, including Epicurium (online shop), to supply to health stores, convenience stores, farm shops and pubs around the UK, as well as being stocked by some major retailers, including Ocado and CenterParcs. The investment from Dacsa will enable the new start-up to extend its product portfolio, grow its team and expand to international markets.
Dacsa is a food ingredients industrial group with 3 business areas namely rice milling, corn milling and food solutions, and it has 9 production plants across Europe.
Cheeky P’s Co-Founder Gregory Goh said, “This investment will not only allow us to create new products, but with Dacsa on board, we will have support beyond the financial investment to help accelerate growth to the next level. We can really focus on building our brand and expanding our product range to support the increasing appetite for healthier plant-based snacks. It is a rapidly growing market, to which our innovative products are ideally suited, and I am very excited about what the future holds for Cheeky P’s.”
Cheeky P’s has attracted attention as it offers healthy yet tasty snacks which will definitely appeal to the millennials and the younger generation.
