Some of Brazil’s best specialty coffee headed to the US to showcase their products at one of the world’s largest coffee event called the Specialty Coffee Expo in Portland, Oregon which was held from 21 to 23 April.
Coffee lovers got the chance to indulge in some unique varieties such as Arara, Catuaí and MGS Paraíso among others with exceptional sensory notes such as floral, citrus, red fruits, chocolate and nuts.
Vinicius Estrela, Brazil Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA) Executive Director said, “The American market is the largest consumer of coffee in the world and present a lot of opportunities for Brazilian Specialty Coffee. We are very excited to be able to connect even more with them, and in this sense, we have been carrying out actions in the market throughout the years with a view to serving from trade to barista.”
Brazil is currently the largest coffee exporter in the world with 34 producing regions and more than 150 varieties with sensory profiles that goes beyond the traditional. Last year, 122 countries bought Brazilian coffee and 39.5 million 60kg bags were exported, valued at a record-breaking US$9.2 billion.
The biggest importer of Brazilian coffee is the US which bought 8.0 million bags of Brazilian coffee, more than 20% of its total export in 2022.
