After 2 long years of absence, the Belgian frozen fries exporters are now making a huge comeback via international trade shows in Singapore, Korea and Japan. The first step for the new ‘Go for Gold’ campaign is at Food & Hotel Asia which will be held in Singapore from 5 to 8 September.
“Go for Gold confirms Belgium’s position as the world’s No.1 exporter of frozen fries, straight from the heart of Europe,” said Hartwig Moyaert, Project Coordinator at VLAM, “‘Go for Gold’ refers to Original Belgian Fries as a premium product and the golden colour of the perfect fries.”
The frozen fries exporters might not have been present in Singapore for the last few years, but their products certainly were ! Of the 5,385 tons of frozen fries exported to Singapore, 32% were of Belgian origin. That’s a staggering 1,715 tons of Original Belgian Fries. The popularity of the product is echoed across the world, with 53.7% of 4,786,000 tons of frozen fries exported from Europe coming from Belgium.

The small European country owes this global recognition partly to its ideal location. Belgium is located in the heart of Europe’s potato production. Its fertile soil and a favourable climate means that Belgium enjoys the highest average yield for potatoes in the world. These, combined with the country’s exceptional combination of tradition and innovation is what makes Belgian Fries the best in the world. Furthermore, tailor-made solutions offered by Belgian exporters and the country’s great logistical location makes them an exceptional and reliable partner for frozen fries import.
Why Belgium? Small Country, Great Fries
- Belgium lies in the heart of Europe’s potato production region. Thanks to its fertile soil and a favourable climate, the region has the highest average yields in the world. More than 90% of the EU’s processed potatoes come from this region.
- The exceptional combination of tradition and innovation is what characterises the entire supply chain: farmers, processors and traders combine years of expertise with a scientific approach and thorough R&D.
- A premium product requires a personal approach. The Belgian frozen fries exporters go for tailor-made solutions, in close co-operation with their customers—for product type, packing, and transport.
- Belgian suppliers can easily and efficiently supply markets worldwide with fresh or frozen produce. The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is the most important chain in this extensive and modern transport network.
