Alfamart, the minimart joint venture of the SM Group and Indonesia-based PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk, is planning to open 200 new stores this year.
Alfamart has successfully expanded across 11 provinces covering Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Pangasinan and Zambales as well as in 15 cities in Metro Manila.
The expansion of Alfamart was said to have opened doors for micro, small, and medium enterprises to grow through strategic partnerships, with local entrepreneurs setting up businesses within Alfamart stores.
Alfamart has also partnered with local hog raisers and poultry farmers to offer frozen meats at competitive prices. It has introduced in-store butchers in selected stores, allowing customers to select custom cuts and portion sizes.
“As we grow, we want our communities to grow with us. By offering spaces within our stores for MSMEs, we empower local businesses while enhancing the overall shopping experience for our customers,” said Harvey Ong, Chief Operating Officer of Alfamart Philippines.
As of 2024, Alfamart operated a total of 2,100 stores in Luzon.
