In a recent statement made by Paul-Antoine Croize, Vice Chairman of the Food, Agri and Aqua Business Sector Committee (FAABS) at the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, “Over 80% of Vietnamese agricultural products exported to the EU market are not labelled with Vietnamese brands, as such they do not bring high profits to exporters.”
Croize mentioned as an example, Vietnam has the best quality pepper worldwide, unfortunately its pepper price per kg ranks 8th from the top due to the lack of an established brand.
As Vietnam has many cultivation regions, it should build brands to identify the products by regions and its cultural differences.
In 2022, the EU accounted for only 11.3% of Vietnam’ agro-forestry-fisheries exports of US$53.22 billion.
