Philippine Seven Corp, the local master franchisee of 7-Eleven convenience stores, is slated to open up to 280 more stores for the remainder of 2025.
PhilSeven Operations Director Francis S. Medina said that about 70% of these new stores will be in Visayas and Mindanao, as stores in these 2 areas surpassed stores in Luzon, in terms of performance.
Medina estimated that at least 50% of the new stores will be owned by sub-franchisees.
7-Eleven is currently facing stiff competition from hard discount stores, which are also rapidly expanding and looking for similar good residential sites. Medina however said 7-Eleven has a clear advantage as these discount stores mostly do not operate 24-hours. In addition, 7-Eleven also serves fast RTE meals and offer dining space, which most of these discount stores do not offer.
