Algalif®, Icelandic producer of pure, high-grade, natural astaxanthin from microalgae is set to venture deeper into the ASEAN region after it has successfully achieved Non-GMO Project verification for its Astalíf™ 5% and 10% oleoresin ingredients recently.
“We are pleased to achieve this certification and believe it helps reinforce our commitment to quality and to our customers that want to avoid GMOs in their products,” said Orri Björnsson, CEO of Algalif Iceland. “Much credit goes to our Quality team for its ongoing diligence in supporting and validating the purity and quality of all our products.”
“Buyers are increasingly knowledgeable about what to look for when purchasing astaxanthin which supports our aim to offer the highest quality astaxanthin in the marketplace, at a competitive price,” added Simon Seward, Algalif Global Business Director.
The Non-GMO Project Product Verification Program is North America’s only third-party verification for non-GMO food and products. This third-party verification ensures that Astalíf 5 and 10 have been comprehensively evaluated by an independent party for compliance with a standard developed by industry experts and stakeholders.
According to a company spokesperson, ASEAN region is definitely an important market for Algalif. She added, “We are currently working with Asia Drug & Chemical, Thailand’s leading distributor of ingredients for pharmaceutical, supplements, personal care, and food applications, to bring our premium Icelandic astaxanthin oleoresins to the Thai market. Our ambition is to explore business opportunities in the whole ASEAN region through direct sales and/or establishing agreements with local suppliers.”
Astalíf is a potent natural antioxidant with multiple health benefits and a solid scientific foundation. It is manufactured to rigorous quality and sustainability standards. When asked to describe the applications of Astalif for the regional market, she added, “Our Icelandic astaxanthin, branded Astalíf, is a specialty ingredient for nutraceuticals with applications in brain health, eye health, healthy aging, cardiovascular health, muscle endurance/recovery, and skin health. Our product range includes a 5% and 10% astaxanthin oleoresin, suitable for softgel capsules and topical oil-based cosmetics; a 5% astaxanthin biomass, suitable for softgel and hardgel capsules; and a range of astaxanthin softgel capsules supplied in bulk, which are available in various potencies.”
Algalif also holds Novel Food, Halal, and Kosher certifications, and cGMP status for its world-class production facility.
